Add to your plan

Channels and direct messages, in the same place as the pages you are talking about.

What it does

  • A #general channel for everyone on the instance, which an administrator can rename or turn off.
  • A channel for every nexus and every space, named after it and pinned at the top of its navigation.
  • Channels you make yourself: in the page tree, or for the whole instance or one nexus.
  • Direct messages between two and eight people.
  • Threads, mentions, reactions, pins, custom emoji, files, and search across every channel you can read.
  • Who is typing, and who is active, away or offline.

A channel for every place

Every nexus and every space gets a channel of its own, named after it and pinned at the top of its navigation. The people who can read the space can read its channel. A space administrator can turn it off, which keeps the history and closes it to new messages.

A channel made in the page tree is a page like any other: it can be moved, sealed, watched or put in the Trash, and sealing it is how a channel becomes private.

Your list, your way

The sidebar switches between Pages and Channels. Star the channels you use most, sort the rest into sections of your own, and choose for each one whether every message, only mentions, or nothing at all marks it unread. Browse lists the channels you can read and have not joined.

People lists everyone you share a nexus with, each with their status, and starts a direct message with one or several of them.

Otis in the conversation

With Otis licensed as well, anyone in a channel can ask @Otis a question there. The answer is posted for the whole channel, and any change Otis proposes to a page waits for the person who asked to accept or skip it.

If the licence lapses

Nothing is hidden or deleted. Channels and direct messages stay readable and searchable, and take no new messages until a licence is added again. Page comments, notifications and Notes come with every package and keep working either way.
