Labels
Labels
Labels are colored tags shared across a nexus. One label can be applied to pages and to spaces, in any space, so they cut across the tree the way folders cannot.
Applying a label to a page
The tag button sits in the vertical rail on the right of the page, below the share button, with a count when the page already has labels. Click it.
- A dropdown opens beside the rail, on a “Search or create label…” box.
- Type to filter the nexus label list.
- Click a label to apply it. A checkmark marks the ones already on the page.
- Click a checked label again to take it off.
Changes save as you click. Close the dropdown by clicking outside it.
Creating a label
Type a name that does not exist yet and either press Enter or click Create “name”. The label is created for the whole nexus and applied to the current page in one step.
New labels get a color automatically, cycling through blue, green, amber, red, purple, pink, cyan, and orange. Names must be unique inside the nexus.
Labels on a space
A space carries labels too. The same tag button sits next to the space title, and the labels appear as badges under the description. Past five badges the rest collapse into a +N more chip.
Removing a label
Open the picker and click the label again. The checkmark clears and it comes off immediately.
To retire a label everywhere, delete it in the Admin panel instead. That strips it from every page and space at once.
Colors and groups
Colors are six-digit hex. The badge picks black or white text automatically from the color’s brightness, so a pale label stays readable.
Labels can be filed into groups. A group has its own name and color; labels in a group get the group color as a ring around the badge, and the picker sorts them under group headings with anything ungrouped under “Other”.
Managing labels
Open the wrench icon in the rail down the right edge, then Labels in the Content group. From there you can:
| Action | Notes |
|---|---|
| Create a label | Name, optional description, color, with a live preview |
| Edit a label | Rename, re-describe, recolor |
| Assign to a group | Or set “No group” |
| Create and edit groups | Name, description, color |
| Delete | Removes the label from every page and space |
Each label lists how many pages and spaces use it, so you can spot the ones nobody kept up.
Finding pages by label
Group the space by label. A space page has a Type / Label toggle in its header. Switch it to Label and the contents regroup into one section per label. A page with two labels shows up under both. Anything unlabeled falls into an “Unlabeled” section at the end. Spaces that already use labels open in this mode by default, and your choice is remembered per space.
Search. Open search with Cmd+K. Either pick labels in the filter row, which narrows results to pages carrying all of the selected labels, or type label:name directly in the query. The typed form matches partial names, so label:rele finds “release-notes”. Combine it with anything else: runbook label:ops from:2026-01-01.
