Search
Search
Press ⌘ K (or Ctrl K) anywhere in the app. You can also click the magnifier beside the wordmark, at the top of the sidebar. The shortcut is a toggle, and it works even while you are typing in the editor.
Results
Before you type anything, the palette lists your Recent pages: the ten most recently updated pages you can reach.
Type at least two characters and results appear after a short pause. Spaces are listed first, then Pages, then Messages. Each page row shows its icon, title, the space it lives in, and a snippet of the surrounding text where your term matched. Ranking is Postgres full-text relevance across the title and the page body, with up to 20 results in each group.
Search covers page titles, page body text, space names, and space descriptions. Trashed pages are excluded, and so is anything outside the Nexus you belong to.
Clearing the box clears every group and brings back Recent.
Messages
Messages lists chat messages that match your words, from every channel you can read right now: a page’s chat, your notifications and your own messages, and, where Chat is part of your licence, the channels and direct messages you can read. Each row shows the channel, who wrote it, when, and the message. #general carries its Everyone tag. Choose a row to open the channel at that message, marked; a reply in a thread opens its thread in the panel beside the channel. Up to 10 messages are listed, best match first.
Words match by their stem, so deploying finds deploy. Quotes match a phrase, or matches either word, and a leading - leaves a word out. A deleted message is never found, and nor is anything in a channel you cannot open.
Keyboard
| Key | Action |
|---|---|

esc | Close the palette |
Filters
Click the funnel button in the search bar to open the filter row.
| Filter | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Space | Restrict to one space. Defaults to all spaces. |
| From / To | Match on the page’s last-updated date. |
| Labels | Pick one or more. A page must carry all of them to match. |
Clear filters resets the row. See Labels for how labels get onto pages in the first place.
Syntax
Type operators directly into the search box. The help button (the question mark) shows the same list in-app, with clickable examples.
| Operator | Does | Example |
|---|---|---|
author:name | Pages created by a matching author name | retro author:john |
space:name | Pages in a matching space name | runbook space:engineering |
type:page | Pages only | budget type:page |
type:space | Spaces only | platform type:space |
label:name | Pages carrying a matching label | outage label:urgent |
from:YYYY-MM-DD | Updated on or after this date | roadmap from:2026-01-01 |
to:YYYY-MM-DD | Updated on or before this date | roadmap to:2026-06-30 |
Notes that matter:
- Values are matched loosely, so
space:engfinds the Engineering space. Names are matched as substrings, and case does not count. - An operator value cannot contain spaces, and quoting is not supported.
author:jane doefilters onjaneand searches fordoe. author:,space:, andlabel:apply to page results only. Space results ignore them, except thatspace:on its own also lists the matching space.- A page-only operator used alone (
author:,label:,from:,to:) lists pages only. type:spaceon its own lists only the spaces you can open.- Only the first occurrence of each operator is used. A second
label:in the same query is ignored. - Operators and the filter row narrow pages and spaces only. Messages leaves the operators out and searches the rest of your words.
