Sharing Pages
A share link puts one page in front of someone who has no account. They get a read-only view in the browser. Nothing else in your Nexus is exposed.
Create a link
- Open the page.
- Click Access in the right rail.
- On the Anyone with the link row, press the plus glyph (Turn the link on).
- Set the options you want, then click Turn on.
| Option | What it does |
|---|---|
| Password | Visitors must type a password first. Minimum four characters. Required where an administrator says so. |
| Expires | The link stops working at the end of that day. A date already past is refused. |
The link looks like https://your-server/share/ plus a random token. While the link is live it appears on the row with a copy glyph that puts it on the clipboard and an arrow that opens it in a new tab, so you see exactly what a visitor sees. The row’s level reads View: that is what a link hands out.
One page gets one link. If a link already exists, the row shows it instead of offering to create another.
Who sees the URL: whoever manages the page, and a member of the nexus who can edit the page while it is not sealed. Somebody who can only view the page is told that a link exists and how it is configured, and is not handed the address: the address is the credential.
What a visitor sees
A stripped-down read-only page: the space name, the expiry date if there is one, the cover image, the page icon and title, the last-updated date, and “Shared by” your name. Then the page body, rendered but not editable.
They do not get the sidebar, the page tree, comments, version history, child pages, or any way into the rest of your Nexus. Links inside the content that point at other docu.nexus pages will land on the login screen.
Password-protected links show a Password Protected card first. The visitor enters the password and clicks View Page. An expired link shows “This share link has expired” and nothing else.
Change or revoke
Reopen the page’s Access panel.
- On a live link, the pencil glyph (Change the link) opens the same two fields. Leaving the password blank keeps the current one; tick Remove the password to drop it. Click Save.
- A link past its expiry date shows Expired on the row, with no URL to copy. Its pencil reads Renew the link and opens the same fields with a date a week ahead; pick the date you want and click Renew. Renewing keeps the same URL, so anyone who already has it can open the page again. To hand out a different URL instead, turn the link off and on again.
- The minus glyph (Turn the link off) deletes the link after a confirmation. The token dies with it and the URL stops working immediately. A link is live or removed; there is no switched-off link.
Creating a new link after removing one produces a new token. The old URL never comes back.
Nexus-wide controls
Administrators can constrain sharing under Admin > Advanced > Sharing:
- Allow public share links, when off, takes the Anyone with the link row out of every page’s Access panel and stops existing links from resolving.
- Require a password on public shares, when on, marks the password field required and refuses any link that has none.
If a refusal about sharing being disabled or a password being required appears beside the row, that is the policy talking. Ask an administrator.
